Several AFIPS members presented their research during the African Astronomy Society Meeting in Marrakech, in April 2024. Three young scientists received a travel grant from AfAS with a contribution of AFIPS (Salma SYLLA MBAYE from Senegal, Petanki SORO from Côte d’Ivoire and Inza Gnanou from Burkina Faso).

David BARATOUX (IRD/GET/UFHB) was invited to present the African Initiative for Planetary and Space Science during the special session “Africa-Europe Collaborations in astronomy” and “Planetary Science“.

Inza GNANOU (École Normale Supérieure (ENS)/Burkina Faso) had a poster presentation entitled “Solar wind/magnetosphere interaction during periods of intense magnetic activity in solar cycles 20-23”.

Salma SYLLA MBAYE (Université Cheikh Anta Diop) gave a talk on “the Binarity of RR Lyrae Stars” (download here a pdf of her presentation), and presented poster entitled “Meteor detection network in Senegal : Asamaan”

She also gave an oral presentation entitled “Salma Sylla: Binarity in RR Lyrae stars” during the session “Compact/Binary/Cluster/.

Pétanki SORO (UFHB) presented his research during the special session on Planetary Science about the tectites strewnfield in Côte d’Ivoire (both as poster and as an oral presentation). The pdf of the oral presentation may be downloaded here. The poster is given below.
